dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractFollowing the 2001 financial crisis, efforts were made to strengthen and regulate the Turkish banking industry in order to make it more stable and reliable in international financial markets. Banks played an important role in facilitating economic growth by stimulating private-sector lending and investment. The 2001 financial crisis, on the otherhand, resulted in the demise of large banks and emphasized the need for tougher regulation sand improved risk management. Türk Ticaret Bankası (TTB) was one of the banks that had problem sand had to be liquidated. This article looked at the cause sand implications of TTB's bankruptcy.
dc.description.abstract2001 yılında Türk bankacılık sektöründe yaşanan mali krizin ardından sektörü güçlendirmeye ve düzenlemeye yönelik çalışmalar yapılmış, bu da sektörü uluslararası mali piyasalarda daha istikrarlı ve güvenilir hale getirmiştir. Bankalar, özel sektör yatırımlarını ve kredilendirmeyi teşvik ederek ekonomik büyümenin desteklenmesinde önemli bir rol oynamıştır. Ancak 2001 mali krizi büyük bankaların iflasına yol açmış ve daha sıkı kurallar ve daha iyi risk yönetimi gerektirmiştir. Bu zorluklarla karşılaşan ve tasfiye edilen bankalardan biri de Türk Ticaret Bankası (TTB) olmuştur. TTB’nin iflasının nedenleri ve sonuçları bu yazıda incelenmiştir.
