dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu proje kapsamında 1980 yılında Türkiye televizyonlarına getirilen bir yabancı dizi olan Dallas’ın (1978-1991) yapım süreci, Dünya’ya etkileri, ülke televizyonlarına girişi ve toplum üzerine etkileri, Türkiye’nin sosyolojik yapısına olan etkileri ve var olan sosyolojik yapının diziye tepkisi baz alınarak araştırılacaktır. Amerikan rüyasının Türkiye’ye girmesi kapsamında en önemli ve belirgin örneklerden birisi olan Dallas dizisini seçmemizdeki ana neden, Batıyla oldukça farklı sosyolojik yapıya sahip olmasına rağmen, Türkiye’nin sosyal hayatını derinden etkilemiş bir dizi olmasıdır.
dc.description.abstractThis project will discuss the series that had been televised on Turkey at 1979-1980, Dallas. It will deal with the Dallas’ production process, the effects worldwide, and the effects on Turkish society and Turkish society's reaction to the series. The main cause of our decision of choosing Dallas is that while Turkey has a different sociologic structure in contrast to the West, it is a series that had affected the Turkish social life profoundly.
