Cumhuriyetin ilk kadın öğretmenlerinden: Refet Angın

29 Ekim 1923’te Cumhuriyetin ilanıyla birlikte eğitim alanında radikal değişikliklere gidildi. Tevhid-i Tedrisat Kanunu ve Harf Devrimi ile gerçekleşen modernleşme, yurtta daha bilinçli vatandaşların yetişmesine ve yetiştirilmesine katkı sağladı. Böylelikle kadının toplum içerisindeki rolü daha da belirginleşti. Refet Angın, Cumhuriyetin kuruluş yıllarında değişen eğitim sistemiyle tanışan ilk öğrencilerden biriydi. öğrencilik yıllarında Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’le birkaç kez karşılaşma fırsatı oldu ve bu onun tüm hayatını etkiledi. 1981 yılında kutlanan ilk öğretmenler gününde yılın öğretmeni seçildi. Refet Angın, 1982 yılında öğretmenlikten emekli olmasına rağmen ölümünden bir yıl öncesine kadar eğitim sistemini geliştirebilmek için müfettiş ve danışman olarak çalışmaya devam etti.

In 29 October 1923, following the declaration of the Republic, radical changes were made in the field of education. In addition to the elimination of dualism in education, the law of Tevhid-i Tedrisat and the Language Reform, led to the education and training of more conscious citizens. Thus, the role of women in society became even more evident. Refet Angin, was one of the first students to take part in the ever-changing education system when The Republic was newly born. During her student years she had a chance to meet Mustafa Kemal Ataturk several times and these encounters influenced her whole life. She was the first teacher to be honored in The Teacher's Day when the day was first celebrated in 1981. Although she was retired in 1982, she continued to work as an inspector and consultant with the goal of improving the education system, up until a year before her death.
