Türkiye’nin ilk kadın makinisti: Seher Aytaç Aksel

Abstract

Bu makale, Türkiye’nin ilk kadın makinisti Seher Aytaç Aksel’in hayatını, kariyerini ve Türkiye’de demiryolu ulaşımının gelişim sürecindeki yerini ele almaktadır. Aynı zamanda, Türkiye’de ulaşım sektöründe kadınların yerini ve bu sektördeki toplumsal değişim sürecini de incelemektedir. Makalede, Seher Aksel’in demiryolu sektörüne yaptığı katkılar, bu sektördeki kadınların artan varlığı ve toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliğine dair adımlar ayrıntılı bir şekilde tartışılmaktadır. Özellikle, Seher Aytaç Aksel ve eşi Enver Aksel ile yapılan röportajdan elde edilen bilgiler önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Röportajda, Aksel’in demiryolu sektöründeki deneyimleri ve kadınların bu sektöre katılmasının önündeki engeller üzerine görüşlerine yer verilmiştir. Ayrıca, Aksel’in kişisel deneyimleri ve sektördeki yerinin yanı sıra, Aksel ailesinin demiryolu alanındaki katkıları da detaylı olarak aktarılmaktadır. Makale ayrıca, Türkiye’de demiryolu ulaşımının tarihsel gelişimine de değinmektedir. 20. yüzyılın ortalarından itibaren demiryolu sektöründeki teknolojik değişiklikler ve bu değişimlerin sektöre etkileri incelenmekte; Türkiye’deki ulaşım sektöründe kadınların rolünün nasıl arttığına dair veriler sunulmaktadır.

This article examines the life and career of Turkey's first female train driver, Seher Aytaç Aksel, and her role in developing railway transportation in Turkey. It also explores the place of women in the transportation sector in Turkey and the process of societal change within this industry. The article discusses Seher Aksel's contributions to the railway sector, the increasing presence of women in this field, and the steps taken toward gender equality. In particular, the information obtained from interviews with Seher Aytaç Aksel and her husband, Enver Aksel, holds significant importance. The interview provides insights into Aksel's experiences in the railway industry and her views on women's barriers to entering this sector. Furthermore, the article provides a detailed account of Aksel's personal experiences and role in the industry, along with the contributions of the Aksel family to the field of railways. Additionally, the article touches on the historical development of railway transportation in Turkey. It analyzes the technological changes in the railway sector from the mid-20th century onwards and their impacts on the industry while presenting data on how the role of women in Turkey's transportation sector has increased.
