dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractTürk sporu tarihinde sayısız başarıya şahit olmuştur. Gerek altyapılarda gerek profesyonel branşlarda Türk bayrağı sayısız kez uluslararası arenalarda dalgalanmıştır. Sadece sporcu olarak değil, spora hayatını adamış büyük spor adamları da Türk sporunu günümüzdeki konumuna getirmek için birçok çalışmalarda bulunmuşlardır. Yücel Seçkiner'de hayatını spora adamış ve birçok kez milli formayı terletmiş bir spor adamıdır. Yücel Seçkiner Türkiye'deki altyapı olanaklarının artmasında, gerekli malzemelerin sağlanmasında ve sporcu disiplinin gelişmesinde çok önemli roller almışlardır. Türkiye 1960'lardan önceki süreçteki başarısızlıklarının ve olanaksızlıklarının giderilmesi için özellikle Avrupa baz alınarak projeler yapılmıştır. Yine Yücel Seçkiner bu dönemde başta güreş, atletizm ve halter olmak üzere birçok amatör branşın gelişmesi ve bu branşlarda iyi sporcular çıkabilmesi için çalışmalar yapmıştır. Bu projede de Yücel Seçkiner' in Türkiye'de başta atletizm olmak üzere spora katkıları ve başarıları ele alınmıştır.
dc.description.abstractTurkish athletes have achieved numerous victories throughout its history. Both in youth sports and in professional branches, turkish flag flew over myriad of international arenas. Yucel Seckiner is one of these great people who has devoted his life to Turkish sports. Yucel Seckiner has taken great roles in the progress of youth sport opportunities, supplying required materials and athlete discipline after 1960s. Turkey has done projects based on Europe to mend the opportunity mistakes and failures of pre-1960s. reaping. Yucel Seckiner has done great works to both improve Turkish sports and to raise successful athletes in amateur branches such as wrestling, athletics and barbell.
