dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractYargıçlıktan emekli olan Ertuğrul Oğuz Fırat, hukukçuluğun yanı sıra Türkiye'de çağdaş müziğin önde gelen bestecilerinden biri olmuştur. Konservatuvar eğitimi almadığı için akademik klasik müzik camiası tarafından yok sayılmıştır hatta kendi betimlemesiyle umursanmamıştır. Bu durum çağdaş müziğin gelişmesi için 1979-2010 yılları arasında evinde dinletiler ve açık dersler yapmasına sebep olmuştur. Ayrıca icracıları yeni eserleri çalması için teşvik etmiş, özellikle belli bir dönemin konservatuvar gençliğine evinde yaptığı dinleti günleriyle ilham kaynağı olmuştur. H.Ü. Ankara Devlet Konservatuvarı tarafından sonradan sahip çıkılan bir figüre dönüşen Fırat, Sevda Cenap And Müzik Vakfı tarafından 2013 yılında Altın Madalya ile ödüllendirilmiş, adına konservatuvar bünyesinde bir koro kurulmuştur.
dc.description.abstractErtuğrul Oğuz Fırat, who retired from the judge is one of the leading composers in Turkey. Since he didn't have a conservatory education, he was ignored by the academic music community. This situation led him to perform at home and made open-lessons the years between 1979-2010 for the development of contemporary music. He also encouraged performers to make new works and inspired the conservatory youth of a certain period with recital days that were given at home. Ertuğrul Oğuz Fırat who was recognized later on by H.Ü. Ankara State Conservatory was awarded in 2013 with a golden metal by Sevda Cenap And Music Foundation and a choir was established for his name in the conservatory.
