dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBuket Uzuner, çağdaş Türk edebiyatında önemli yere sahip bir yazardır. Dünyanın pek çok yerini gezmiş Uzuner’in eserleri dokuz farklı dile çevrilmiştir. Bu araştırma, Uzuner’in yazarlığı kadar önemli olan çevreciliğine ve kadın hakları mücadelesine ışık tutmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu araştırmada; Uzuner’in kendi eserlerinden, kendisinin araştırma için hazırlanan sorulara cevaplarından, Cumhuriyet gazetesinde yazdığı köşe yazılarından, kendisi hakkında yazılan eleştirilerden, katıldığı söyleşilerden ve konferanslardan faydalanılmıştır.
dc.description.abstractBuket Uzuner is a significant author in contemporary Türkish literature. Uzuner’s books have been translated to nine different language, wo travelled numerous places in the world. This study aims to enlight her struggle for women rights and environmentalism which are as important as her writing. In this study; Uzuner’s own writings, the answers Uzuner gave for this study, colums she wrote in Cumhuriyet, reviews about Uzuner, conversations and conferernces she attended are utilized.
