dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractÇömlekçilik mesleğinin Ankara ilinde icra edilmeye başlaması 1940’lı yıllara kadar dayanmaktadır ve bu meslek Gölbaşı ilçesinin ilk ticari mesleğidir. Önen sülalesi de dâhil olmak üzere birçok ustanın bu yıllarda Ankara’ya gelerek çömlek üretmeye başlamaları, bu ilçenin kurulmasının ana sebeplerinden biri olmuştur. O zamanlarda çok rağbet gören çömlek sektörü, zamanla farklı değişimlere uğramış ve gittikçe eski önemini ve yaygınlığını kaybetmeye başlamıştır. Bu çalışmada çömlekçiliğin Türkiye’de ve Ankara'nın Gölbaşı ilçesinde yıllar içerisinde yaşadığı değişim, Ankara’nın son çömlekçi ustaları olan Önen kardeşlerin tecrübe ve anılarıyla temellendirerek ele alınmaktadır.
dc.description.abstractThe beginning of the pottery profession in Ankara dates back to the 1940s and this profession is the first commercial profession of Gölbaşı district. The fact that many different pottery masters, including the Önen family, came to Ankara in these years and started producing pottery was one of the main reasons for the establishment of this district. The pottery industry, which was very popular at that time, has undergone different changes over time and gradually started to lose its former importance and prevalence. In this study, the change in pottery in Turkey and in the Gölbaşı district of Ankara over the years is examined based on the experiences and recollections of the Önen brothers, the last pottery masters of Ankara.
