dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractİkinci Yeni, Garip Akımı’nın son bulmasının ardından 1950’li yılların başında oluşmaya başlamış bir edebi oluşumdur. Hareket, Demokrat Parti’nin baskın olduğu yıllarda gelişmiş ve akım şairlerini bu baskıcı ortamdan etkilemiştir. Gerçeküstücülük akımının dolaylı etkileri, akım şairlerinin eserlerinin genelinde imaj kavramı altında kendini göstermiştir. Akım şairlerinin hayatında ortak özellik olan yoksulluk, aile bireylerini kaybetme, sürgün vb. gibi travmatik etmenler şiirlerinde kaçış, düzensizlik, yalnızlık gibi temaların sergilenmesine yol açmış ve onları tek bir hareket altında birleştirmiştir. İkinci Yeniciler edebiyat çevreleri tarafından benimsendiği kadar eleştirilere de maruz kalmıştır. Eleştiriler çoğunlukla İkinci Yenicilerin anlaşılması zor dil kullanımlarına ve anlamın üstünü kapatmalarına yöneliktir.en_US
dc.description.abstractİkinci Yeni is a literary formation that started to form in the early 1950s after the end of Garip formation. The movement developed during the years when the Democratic Party was dominant and influenced the poets of the movement from this oppressive environment. The indirect effects of the surrealism movement showed itself under the concept of image in the works of the poets of the movement. Common traumatic factors in poets’ lives led to the display of themes such as escapism, disorder and loneliness in their poems and have combined them under a single movement. The poets of İkinci Yeni have been exposed to criticism as much as it has been adopted by the literati. Criticisms are mostly directed at the İkinci Yeni’s poets’ use of obscure language and obfuscation of meaning.en_US
