Sinemanın zaman yolculuğu: Kadıköy Sineması (1967)

Abstract

2 Nisan 1964’te İstanbul’un Kadıköy ilçesinde kurulan tarihi Kadıköy Sineması, günümüze kadar dayanmış, kapısı sokağa açılan sınırlı sayıdaki örneklerden biridir. Bu çalışmada sinemanın Türkiye’ye ayak basması, İstanbul ve sonrasında Kadıköy özelinde ilerlemesi konu alındı. Kadıköy Sinemasının, 1970’teki buhran dolayısı ile yaşadıkları, 80 darbesinden sonra gelen sallantılı dönemde izledikleri yol, yabancı yapım şirketlerinin yeni yasa ile Türkiye’ye gelmesi ve TV kanallarının yaygınlaşması karşısındaki tutumlarından bahsedilmektedir. Sektöre olumsuz etki eden ve birçok sinema salonunun kapanmasına neden olan bu faktörlere rağmen günümüze kadar varlığını idame ettirmesinin nedenleri açıklanmıştır. Son olarak günümüzde Kadıköy Sineması’nın sektördeki yeri açıklanmıştır.

The historical Kadıköy Cinema, founded on April 2, 1964, in the Kadıköy region of Istanbul, is one of the few sample that has endured to today which has a door that opens to streets. This study investigates the arrival of cinema in Turkey, its progress in Istanbul and specifically in Kadıköy later on. The hardships faced by Kadıköy Cinema during the economic recession in 1970, the path it took in the unstable period after the 1980 revolution, and its stance in the face of foreign movie maker companies entering Turkey with new laws and the spread of TV channels are discussed. Despite the factors that negatively affected the industry and led to the closure of many cinema halls, the reasons for the survival of Kadıköy Cinema up to today are explained. Finally, the position of Kadıköy Cinema in the today’s industry is discussed.
