This paper looks at the migration from Turkey to Germany in the 1960’s and its effects on family relations. When Germany's need for workers and Turkey’s need for lowering unemployment combined, the resulting treaty which ratified the migration had many effects on migrating families. Some of the workers who migrated left their families behind whilst others brought them along. In this paper we look at two such families. The Karaca Family is an example of those who brought their family along whilst the Keskin family is an example to those who left their family behind. With the help of the interviews this paper tells the stories of both families.
