dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractZiraat Bankası, çiftçilere destek vermek amacıyla 19. Yüzyılda Memleket Sandıkları bünyesinde kuruldu. Daha sonraki tarihsel süreçte Memleket Sandıkları Menafi Sandıklarına dönüştürüldü ve Ziraat Bankası bugünkü halini aldı. Ziraat Bankası genel müdürlük binası, 1926 ve 1929 yılları arasında Ulus’ta inşa edildi. Bina, İtalyan mimar Giulio Mongeri tarafından Türk mimari unsurları esas alınarak tasarlandı. İnşası sırasında Türk Macar ve İtalyan taş ustaları görev aldı. Ziraat Bankası Bankacılık Müzesi, Ziraat Bankası’nın kuruluşunun 118. yılının kutlandığı 20 Kasım 1981 tarihinde genel müdürlük binası içerisinde hizmet vermeye başladı ve açılışı dönemin Danışma Meclisi Başkanı Sadi Irmak tarafından yapıldı. Bu araştırma yapılırken müzenin açılış töreninde bulunduğu için Sadi Irmak’ın hayatı araştırılmıştır. Araştırma sürecinde kaynak olarak kızı Yakut Irmak özden’den bilgi alınmıştır. Bankacılık Müzesi, Memleket Sandıkları’nın Ziraat Bankası halini alana kadarki süreçte kullanılan bankacılık ile ilgili eşyaları ve çeşitli ressamlara ait tabloları bünyesinde barındırmaktadır. Müzenin içerisindeki eserlerle ilgili bilgi almak için Ulus’taki Ziraat Bankası genel müdürlük binasında Basın Etkinlik ve İç İletişim Yetkilisi olarak görev yapan Aysel Yazgı ile iletişime geçilmiştir. Ziraat Bankası Bankacılık Müzesi Türkiye’nin ilk ve tek bankacılık müzesidir.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn order to support farmers, Ziraat Bank was founded in the 19th Century under the umbrella of Homeland Funds. In the later historical process, Homeland Funds were transformed into the Saving Funds and Ziraat Bank took its final form. The Ziraat Bank headquarters building was built between 1926 and 1929 in Ulus. The building was designed by Italian architect Giulio Mongeri on the basis of Turkish architectural elements. During the construction of it, Turkish Hungarian and Italian stone masters took part. Ziraat Bank Banking Museum started to provide services within the headquarters building on November 20, 1981, when the 118th anniversary of Ziraat Bank's establishment was celebrated, and the opening was made by the Consultative Assembly President Sadi Irmak. Sadi Irmak's life was searched during this research because he was in the opening ceremony of the museum. During the research process, information was obtained from his daughter Yakut Irmak özden. The Banking Museum incorporates the banking-related items which used in the process until the Homeland Funds became Ziraat Bank and paintings of various painters. In order to get information about the artifacts in the museum, Aysel Yazgı, who is the Press Activity and Internal Communication Officer at the Ziraat Bank headquarters building in Ulus, has been contacted. Ziraat Bank Banking Museum is Turkey's first and only banking museum.en_US
