dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu çalışma 1960 ve 2000 yılları arasındaki süreçte Kocaeli'ye bağlı Karamürsel ilçesinin sosyal ve iktisadi hayatına ışık tutmayı planlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda, çalışma birincil kaynaklara paralel olarak bu süreçte ilçede yaşamış kişilerin tanıklıklarına da sözlü görüşmeler vasıtasıyla başvurarak ilçedeki toplumsal olayları yansıtmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmanın ilçenin çok da incelenmeyen yakın tarihine ışık tutması hedeflenmektedir.
dc.description.abstractThis study examines the social and economic life at one of the provinces of Kocaeli, Karamürsel between the years of 1960 and 2000. In this regard, by referring to primary sources, secondary sources as well as the witnesses of people who had lived during this period at Karamürsel, this study reflects the social developments taking place in the village at these years. The study aims to be one of the reference sources on history of the village which has not been examined in depth.
