Bu çalışma 1989 yılında Bulgaristan’dan Türkiye’ye gerçekleşen zorunlu göçün nedenlerini, Türkiye’nin bu sürece yönelik politikalarını ve göçmenlerin Bursa’daki yerleşim süreçlerini sosyo-kültürel etkileriyle birlikte incelemektedir. Öncelikle Bulgaristan’daki Türk azınlığa uygulanan asimilasyon politikaları bağlamında göçün nedenleri ele alınmıştır. Ardından Türkiye’nin izlediği göç politikaları değerlendirilmiştir. Göç sürecinde yerel yönetimlerin ve sivil toplumun rolü analiz edilmiştir. Göçmenlerin kültürel miraslarını Bursa’ya nasıl taşıdıkları, toplumsal yapıyı nasıl dönüştürdüğü ve kimlik, vatandaşlık, iş hayatı ve eğitim yoluyla gerçekleşen uyum süreçleri incelenmiştir.
This study examines the causes of the forced migration from Bulgaria to Turkey in 1989, Turkey’s policy responses to this process, and the settlement experiences of the migrants in Bursa, along with their socio-cultural impacts. The analysis begins with the assimilation policies imposed on the Turkish minority in Bulgaria, which served as the primary drivers of the migration. It then evaluates the migration policies adopted by Turkey during this period. The role of local governments and civil society organizations in managing the migration process is analyzed in detail. The study further explores how migrants carried their cultural heritage to Bursa, how they contributed to the transformation of the local social structure, and how they navigated processes of adaptation through identity formation, citizenship acquisition, labor market integration, and participation in the education system.
