dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractSuyun yüksekliğe bağlı enerjisini kullanarak, bu enerjiyi elektrik enerjisine çeviren tesislere hidroelektrik santral denir ve hidroelektrik santraller enerji üretiminde en önemli kaynaklardan biridir. Dünyada hidroelektrik santraller 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısı itibari ile, Türkiye'de ise 20. yüzyılın başında kurulmaya başlanmıştır. Bu yazıda Türkiye'deki hidroelektrik santrallerden biri olan Kovada II'nin konum özellikleri, kurulumunun maddi ve fiziki yapısı, sağladığı istihdam, yarattığı sosyal hayat ve genel anlamda kurumsal işleyişi ele alınmıştır.
dc.description.abstractThe facilities that convert the water's height-dependent energy into electrical energy are called hydroelectric power plants, and hydroelectric power plants are one of the most important sources of energy production. Hydroelectric power plants have started to be established since late 19th century in the world and the beginning of the 20th century in Turkey. In this paper, the location characteristics of Kovada II, one of the hydroelectric power plants in Turkey, the material and physical structure of its installation, the employment it provides, the social life it creates and the institutional functioning in general are discussed.
