dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAdana’nın Türkiye'deki en verimli tarım arazilerinin başında gelmesi Ankara Üniversitesinin bölgede bir ziraat fakültesi kurma kararının temelini oluşturmuştur. Böylelikle, Ankara Üniversitesi tarafından 1972 yılında Adana Ziraat Fakültesi hayata geçirilmiştir. Kısa bir süre sonra, Erzurum Atatürk Üniversitesi aynı yerde bir Tıp Fakültesi kurma kararı almıştır. Bunun sonucunda, Çukurova Tıp Fakültesinin kuruluşuna ilişkin Ankara ve Erzurum Atatürk üniversiteleri arasında tartışmalar yaşanmış ve sonuç olarak bu fakülte Erzurum Atatürk Üniversitesi bünyesinde yer almıştır. Bu iki fakülte 30 Kasım 1973 tarih ve 1786 sayılı kanunla Çukurova Üniversitesinin temelini oluşturmuştur. Üniversite bugün on dokuz fakülte, dört enstitü ve otuz sekiz araştırma ve uygulama merkezi ile çalışmalarını sürdürmektedir.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe fact that Adana is one of the most fertile agricultural lands in Turkey formed the basis of Ankara University's decision to establish a Faculty of Agriculture in the region. Thus, Adana Faculty of Agriculture was established by Ankara University in 1972. After a short time, Erzurum Atatürk University decided to establish a Faculty of Medicine in the same place. As a result, there were discussions between Ankara and Erzurum Atatürk universities regarding the establishment of Çukurova Medical Faculty, and as a result, this faculty was included in Erzurum Atatürk University. These two faculties formed the basis of Çukurova University with Law No. 1786 dated 30 November 1973. Today, the University continues its activities with 17 faculties, 3 institutes, and 25 research and application centers.en_US
