In December 1963, violent attacks of EOKA which is a terrorist group increased in Cyprus. Due to the negative relationship between Turkey and Greece, Inönü not only landed troops in the island but also abolished Agreement of Residence, Trade, and Navigation that was signed by Atatürk and Venizelos in 1930. As a result, Greek people who have Greek passport were deported from Turkey with 20 dollars and 20 kilograms baggage. Additionally, activities of Greek schools and Patriarchate were prevented and their reputation was decreased intentionally. At the same time, effects of Turkicization activities in Imroz and Bozcaada were shown up. As a result in 1964, 12.500 Greek people who have Greek passport has been deported from Turkey.en_US
