Türk Polis Teşkilatında bir kadın: Necla Demirhat

Emniyet Genel Müdürlüğü, il ve ilçelerde iç güvenlikten sorumlu, halkın güvenliğini ve huzurunu korumakla görevli devlet teşkilatıdır. Polislik mesleği diğer birçok meslek ile kıyaslandığında beden gücüne dayalı olması, uzun çalışma saatleri, gece mesaileri ve ek görevleriyle ağır çalışma koşulları içeren bir meslektir. Bu yüzden de Türk toplumu içerisinde, hemşirelik ne kadar feminen görülüyorsa, polislik de bir o kadar maskulen görülür. Bu “elinin hamuruyla karışma’’ mantalitesi ise birçok kadın polisi her gün mesleğinin halihazırda getirdiklerinden hariç farklı bir hayli sorunla yüzleşmek zorunda bırakır. Bu sorunlarla yirmi yedi yıllık meslek hayatı boyunca karşılaşan kadın polislerden biri de Necla Demirhat’tır. Kendisi 1972-1999 yılları arasında görev yapmış Başkomiserlik rütbesiyle emekliye ayrılmış bir kadın, bir anne ve bir polistir.

The General Directorate of Security is the state organization responsible for internal security in provinces and districts, responsible for preserving the security and peace of the people. When compared to many other professions, the policing profession is based on body strength, long working hours, night shifts and additional duties, and it is a profession that includes heavy working conditions. Therefore, in Turkish society, jobs such as nursing are considered more feminine and the ones such as policing are considered more masculine. This "don't try to do a man’s job" mentality causes many female police officers to face many different problems every day, on top of the problems their profession innately brings. Necla Demirhat is one of the female police officers who have encountered these problems throughout her twenty-seven-year career. She is a woman, a mother and a police officer who retired with the rank of Police Chief Superintendent after serving between the years 1972-1999.
