dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu çalışma Türkiye sosyal yapısının önemli bir parçası olan Kırım Tatar Halkı'nın İkinci Dünya Savaşı’nda ve öncesinde yaşadıklarını, Kırım tarihi hakkındaki detaylı akademik incelemeler ışığında ve Mehmet Emin Kırımer (Kurtosman)’ın hatıratlarıyla paralel olarak ele almaktadır. 1917 yılından itibaren yaşanmış olayların, 18 Mayıs 1944 Kırım Sürgünü ve sonrasında İkinci Dünya Savaşı’nın sonuçlanmasıyla Tatar halkının Türkiye’ye göçü ve bu süreçlerde Mehmet Emin Kırımer (Kurtosman)’ın yaşadıkları işlenmiştir.
dc.description.abstractIn this study, Crimean Tatars who are the crucial part of the Turkey’s social structures and their experiences during the period of the Second World War are investigated through detailed academic reviews and Mehmet Emin Kırımer (Kurtosman)’s memoirs. The events from the beginning of 1917, the Deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 18th May of 1944 and their migration to Turkey after the Second World War and Mehmet Emin Kırımer (Kurtosman)’s life are worked in this article.
