Türkiye Kurtuluş Savaşı sonrası sanayileşmek ve ekonomik özgürlüğünü kazanmak amacıyla demir-çelik sektörüne önem verdi. Bu doğrultuda Divriği'de yapılan maden rezerv çalışmaları sonucunda 19 Mayıs 1938 tarihinde Divriği Maden İşletmeleri faaliyete geçti. Peletleme tesisinin inşasıyla birlikte kaliteli cevher üretimini arttıran Divriği Maden İşletmeleri günümüzde Türkiye' nin demir ihtiyacının yarısını sağlamaktadır. Etibank tarafından işletilmeye başlanan maden işletmeleri günümüzde OYAK grubu bünyesinde çalışmalarına devam etmektedir.
After the Independence War, Turkey attached importance to the iron and stell industry so as to industrialize and gain economic freedom. Accordingly, as a result of the extraction works of mine reserves in Divriği, the operations of Divriği mine firms went into action. Divriği mine factories increased the quality of ore production by means of the construction of pelletizing factory, which currently provides half of Turkey's exports of iron. The mining firms, which were started to be operated by Etibank continue to be active within the Oyak Group.
