dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract1993 yılına kadar müzik mecrasında dünyaca ünlü isimlerin Türkiye’de konser vermeleri pek alışılagelmemişti. 26 Mayıs 1993 tarihinde; Ahmet San organizatörlüğünde Guns N’ Roses konseri ile başlayan konser furyası, Türkiye’deki müzik aşıklarına adeta ilaç gibi geldi. Bu makalede, organizatör Ahmet San ve organize ettiği sekiz konser -Guns N’ Roses, Elton John, Metallica, Sting, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Michael Jackson, Madonna- hakkında bilgilendirme yapılacaktır. Bununla beraber; konserlerin, polemik bir siyasi dönemden geçen Türkiye’de medyaya yaptığı etki araştırılacaktır.
dc.description.abstractIt was not common that famous singers worldwide to perform concerts in Turkey in 1993. A concert craze, which satisfied the hunger of Turkish music lovers, had started with Guns N’ Roses concert under Ahmet San’s organization on 26th May in 1993. In this essay, information about eight concerts and their organizer Ahmet San will be provided. On top of that, the effect of the concerts on media during a polemic political period in Turkey will be investigated.
