Formerly known as "Borlu" and "Zafaranborlu," Safranbolu was an important stop for caravans during the Ottoman era and is now renowned for its historic mansions. Thanks to preservation efforts dating back to the 1900s and increased media recognition, Safranbolu was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Today, Safranbolu holds a prominent place in tourism, and one of the significant landmarks is the Havuzlu Asmazlar Konağı. Built in the 19th century, it was initially owned by the "Asmazlar" family and served as their residence. Over time, various members of the family left the mansion for different reasons, leading it to be used as a warehouse for some time. Finally, the mansion was purchased by the TTOK (Turkish Touring and Automobile Association), restored, and transformed into a boutique hotel.
