dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractMete Bora, Atakule'nin inşaatının tamamlanmasının ardından 1989'da bu makalenin de konusu olan SUMMA İnşaat'ı kurdu. SUMMA İnşaat kuruluşunun ardından hiç zaman kaybetmeden o zamanki ülke yönetiminin de yürüttüğü politika üzerine yurt dışına açıldı. Adını dünya çapında duyuran ilk Türk şirketleri arasında yerini aldı. İlk olarak Türkmenistan'da iş yaptı. Türkiye'nin yürüttüğü yeni politika üzerine Rusya'ya girdi. Sonra Afrika Birliği Zirvesi'nin de katkılarıyla onların Afrika'daki yayılımında ciddi bir rol oynadı. Ardından en büyük projelerinden biri olan havaalanı işini tamamlayıp adını Arabistan'da da duyurdu. SUMMA İnşaat başlangıçta bir inşaat firması olarak kurulmasına rağmen kısa zamanda birçok farklı sektöre yayıldı. Havaalanı ve otel işletmeciliği; turizm; enerji; madencilik; SUMMART ve Akyurt yaşam vakfı gibi toplumsal projeler ile ilgilendi.
dc.description.abstractMete Bora established SUMMA Construction which is the topic of our essay in 1989 after Atakule was built. After the foundation of SUMMA Construction Firm, it expanded itself to abroad with the help of their new policy of country without hesitation. The company was able to announce its name worldwide. Firstly, the company made business with Turkmenistan. Later, SUMMA got in Russia because of the new policy of Turkey. The African Union Summit played a significant role in their expansion towards Africa. Then the company completed one of their largest projects they have ever received which is the airport project in Senegal. Although SUMMA Construction Firm was initially established as a construction company, later it spread in many different sectors. This article has an aim of examining all the history of SUMMA Construction Firm.
