Adana has played an important role in shaping Turkey's cinema culture, especially during the golden age of Turkish cinema (1960-1975) since the early 20th century. The open-air movie theaters that became widespread in Adana brought the public closer to the cinema. Adana's place in Turkish cinema has led to the production of films aimed at the Adana audience, resulting in the emergence of many actors and directors from Adana. However, cinema in Adana has faced difficulties due to the proliferation of television, economic upheavals, and changing social preferences after 1975. Although it entered a period of significant decline during this time, Adana cinema has left many legacies to the present day. Altın Koza Film Festival is also one of the legacies being left to the present day from Adana's golden age.
