This research paper depicts how Osmanlı Macunu has evolved in Ankara from 1960 to the present. The main focus of the paper is Ali Kömekçi, who claims to be the last macuncu of Ankara. Ali Kömekçi's father moved to Ankara in 1960, which brought the macun business here. Unfortunately, there has been a decline in the popularity of macun over the past few years. By analyzing several articles and using an interview with Ali Kömekçi himself, our paper shows that the increased popularity of modern day Turkish confectionery and the uncertainty of the macunmaking industry is leading to the fall of Osmanlı Macunu.
