dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractİşçi sınıflarının büyümesiyle daha da kitlesel hareketlere dönüşen sendikal pratikler tüm dünyada olduğu gibi Osmanlı’da da etkisini 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında sosyalist partiler ve irili ufaklı sendikalar sonucu göstermiştir. Kurtuluş Savaşı sonrasında kurulan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti döneminde de bu sendikal hak mücadeleleri sürmüştür. Bu çalışmada, Türkiye’de ilk sendika federasyonu örneği olan ve 1952 yılında kurulan TÜRK-İŞ ile başlayan Türkiye sendikacılığı tarihinde ne tür sendikalar bulunduğu, bu sendikalardan hangilerinin devlet bürokrasisi ile yakın ilişkiler içinde olduğu, hangilerinin sınıf mücadelesini sosyalist bir perspektiften ele aldığı ve bu sendikal pratiklerin günümüzde nasıl bir ilişkilenme ağı içinde oldukları anlatılmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractTrade union practices, which turned into even more mass movements with the growth of the working classes, had an impact on the Ottoman Empire as well as all over the world in the second half of the 19th century with socialist parties and trade unions of large and small. These trade union rights struggle continued during the period of the Republic of Turkey, which was established after the War of Independence. In that work, the trade union history of Turkey which was started with the first trade union federation Turk-Is which was established in 1952 will be covered and tried to respond to the question of what type of trade unions Turkey has in its history; from those trade unions, which of them have a close relationship with state bureaucracy; which of them take the class struggle from the perspective of socialism and how those trade union practices have connection network within the system today.en_US
