dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürkiye’de gazinolar özellikle 1960-1990 tarihleri arasında gelişerek ülke genelinde sıkça tercih edilen eğlence ve sosyalleşme merkezleri hâline geldi ve ülkenin toplumsal yapısını ve kültürünü etkiledi. Bu gazinoların arasında hızlıca ün kazanan ve adından sıkça bahsettiren Taylan Gazinosu, bir aile gazinosu olarak Mustafa Taylan tarafından 1968'de Bursa’da kuruldu. Dönemin en ünlü ses sanatçıları Taylan Gazinosu’nda sahne aldı ve bu gazinodaki deneyimleri sonucunda ün kazandı. Bu araştırmada, uzun yıllar boyunca ses getiren Taylan Gazinosu’nun Bursa’nın eğlence anlayışına ve gazino geleneğine etkisi, hizmet verdiği dönemlerde ev sahipliği yaptığı ilgi çekici olaylar, Taylan Gazinosu’nun ikinci sahibi Mustafa Taylan’ın oğlu Tamer Taylan ve abisi Taner Taylan’ın anlatıları doğrultusunda incelenecek; Taylan ailesinin, Taylan Gazinosu’nun kuruluşu ve kapanışı arasındaki dönemde yaşadıkları aktarılacaktır.en_US
dc.description.abstractCasinos in Turkey developed especially between 1960-1990 and became the most preferred entertainment and socialization centers throughout the country and affected the social structure and culture of the country. Taylan Casino, which has gained a reputation among these casinos and is frequently mentioned by many, was founded by Mustafa Taylan in Bursa in 1968 as a family casino. The most famous sound artists of the period took the stage at Taylan Casino and gained fame as a result of their experience in this casino. In this research, the effect of Taylan Casino on Bursa's mentality of entertainment and casino tradition, interesting events hosted during its service will be examined in line with the narratives of Mustafa Taylan's children Taner and his brother also the second owner of the casino Tamer Taylan.en_US
