Isaac Bird the historian

Araştırmamızın konusu, başta Isaac Bird olmak üzere, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'ndaki ve Doğu ülkelerindeki misyoner faaliyeti ile ABCFM'den meslektaşlarının desteği ile ilgilidir. Misyoner olmaya ve eğitimine nasıl karar verdi, özellikle, Ortadoğu'ya ve Türkiye'de açtığı okullara, kiliselere ve istasyonlara seyahatleri, dahası, araştırma, dini propaganda ve çalışmaların Suriye bölgesi halkı üzerindeki etkisi ile ilgilidir. Isaac Bird aynı zamanda bilinen bir tarihçi olarak adlandırılmıştır. Bu sebepten ötürü seyahatleri hakkında bir kitap yazmış ve o zamanın her tarihi etkinliğini kaydetmiştir.

The topic of our research mainly is about Isaac Bird and his missionary activity in the Ottoman Empire with the support of his colleagues from the ABCFM. The way he decided to become a missionary and his education. Notably, his travels to the Middle-East and the schools, churches and stations he opened in Turkey. Moreover, the research is about the religious propaganda and the effect of the work on the people of the Syrian region. Isaac Bird was also a known “Historian” named that for the following reason, he wrote a book about his travels and recorded every event of that time.
