dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractMatematik dalında Avrupa'nın en iyi üniversitelerinde, olasılık teorisinde döneminin en önde gelen isimlerinin talebesi olarak lisans ve lisansüstü eğitimini tamamladıktan sonra bir akademisyen olarak hayatına devam eden Hayri Körezlioğlu, uluslararası düzeyde saygın bir akademik kariyere sahip olmanın yanı sıra, rassal analize dair çalışmaların Türkiye'de sistemli bir hâl almasına da önayak olması dolayısıyla son yarım asrın en önemli Türk matematikçileri arasında yer almaktadır. Bu makalede, Körezlioğlu'nun eğitim ve çalışma hayatı ile birlikte Türkiye'deki birtakım girişimleri incelenerek kendisinin Türk matematiğine katkıları ele alınacaktır.
dc.description.abstractAfter completing his bachelors and PhD degree under supervisions of most eminent professors on probability theory in top universities of Europe, Hayri Körezlioğlu continued his life as an internationally esteemed mathematician and he played a fundamental role in the foundation of the systematic studies on stochastic analysis in Turkey; so that he is one of the most important mathematicians among the Turkish academia in the last half century. In this article, his educational background, academic career and some of his projects aimed to revive the interest of Turkish academia in probability theory are going to be investigated.
