dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstract1960’larda başlayan Milli Görüş düşüncesi 1990’larda altın çağını yaşamıştır. Milli Görüş’ün kurucusu Necmettin Erbakan’ın 1987 yılında başa gelebildiği Refah Partisi, 1991’de altmış bir milletvekili, 1994’de yirmi sekiz il belediyesi kazanmıştır. 1995’te ise birinci parti olma başarısını göstermiştir. Refah Partisi’nin bu başarısının altında halkla olan iletişimi yatmıştır. Parti üyeleri halkla doğrudan iletişim kurarak ikna etmeye çalışmışlardır. Partinin içindeki ana fikir olan Adil Düzen, bu iletişim koordinasyonu ile beraber toplum içindeki bazı kesimleri kendilerine çekmişlerdir. Seçim sonrasında ise bir senelik koalisyon hükümetinin ardından parti, Anayasa Mahkemesi tarafından 1998 yılında kapatılmıştır.
dc.description.abstractThe idea of National Vision, which started in the 1960s, experienced its golden age in the 1990s. The Welfare Party, whose founder Necmettin Erbakan came to power in 1987, won sixty-one parliamentary seats in 1991 and twenty-eight provincial municipalities in 1994. In 1995, it succeeded in becoming the leading party. This success of the Welfare Party was due to its communication with the public. Party members tried to persuade the public through direct communication. The main idea of the party, the Fair Order, attracted certain groups in the society with this coordination of communication. After the elections, the party was shut down by the Constitutional Court in 1998 after one year of coalition government.
