dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürk Sanat Müziği bestecilerinden Münir Nurettin Selçuk'un oğlu Timur Selçuk 1945’te İstanbul'da doğdu. İstanbul'da ve Paris'te konservatuvarda okuduktan sonra 1967’de ilk hafif müzik plağı çıktı. 1975-1985 yılları arasında Ankara Sanat Tiyatrosu’nda müzik direktörlüğü yaptı. 1977’de İstanbul Oda Orkestrası’nı ve müzik alanında öğrenci yetiştirmek amacıyla Çağdaş Müzik Merkezini kurdu. İki farklı Eurovision’da ve TRT Denetleme Kurulunda görev aldı. Hafif müzik türündeki eserlerine ek olarak siyasi şarkılarıyla tanındı. Kariyeri boyunca tiyatro, film müziği, bale ve opera üzerine pek çok çalışma yaptı. 2020’de kalp krizi geçirerek vefat etti.en_US
dc.description.abstractTurkish Classical Music composer Münir Nurettin Selçuk’s son Timur Selçuk was born in Istanbul in 1945. After studying at the conservatory in Istanbul and Paris, his first pop music record was released in 1967. Between 1975-1985, he worked as the music director at the Ankara Art Theatre. In 1977, he founded the Istanbul Chamber Orchestra and the Contemporary Music Center to train students in music. He took part in two different Eurovision contests and TRT Supervisory Board. He became known for his works in the pop music genre in addition to his political songs. He has done a lot of work in theater, film music, ballet, and opera throughout his career. He died of a heart attack in 2020.en_US
