dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu araştırmada Ünal Türkeş'in hayat öyküsü ve Ünal Türkeş'in Muğla'da nasıl bir çocukluk geçirdiği, ailesinden ve ders aldığı öğretmenlerinden ne ölçüde etkilendiği sorularına cevap verildi. Ünal Türkeş'in üniversite eğitimi için neden İstanbul'u seçtiği ve İstanbul'da nerelerde çalıştığı üzerinde duruldu. Muğla'ya geri dönme sebepleri, akabinde Devrim Gazetesinin tamamına sahip olması ve Devrim Gazetesinin Muğla için önemi açıklandı. Siyasette de aktif olan Ünal Türkeş'in, Cumhuriyet Halk Partisiyle olan bağı ve siyasetteki rolü incelendi. Araştırmacı yazar kimliğiyle Ünal Türkeş'in yazdığı kitaplar incelendi ve Türkeş'in kitapları, üslubu ve araştırma teknikleri hakkında bilgi verildi.
dc.description.abstractIn this research, Ünal Türkeş's life story is told. Questions were answered regarding how Ünal Türkeş spent his childhood in Muğla, how he was affected by his family and his teachers. It has been answered that why Ünal Türkeş chose İstanbul for his university education and which places on İstanbul he worked in. The reasons for his return to Muğla is explained and his partnership on the newspaper Devrim are discussed. Later on, his ownership on Devrim and the value Devrim holds for Muğla. Ünal Türkeş's relation with “CHP” and his role in politics are examined. The books Ünal Türkeş has written with his researcher and writer character are examined also facts were given concerning his books, his wording and his research techniques.
