dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu projede Beyoğlu’ndaki Butik Katia’nın sahibi Şapkacı Madam Katia Kiracı’nın öyküsü incelenmektedir. Araştırmanın temel amacı, Madam Katia örneği üzerinden şapka takma anlayışının Cumhuriyet’in kuruluş yılları ile günümüz arasındaki değişimini göstermek ve Cumhuriyet’in ilk yıllarından itibaren şapka takmaya verilen önemin arkasındaki belirleyici etmenleri ve motifleri araştırmaktır.
dc.description.abstractIn this project, Milliner Madame Katia Kiracı’s story is investigated. Our project’s main aim is to show the change of hat fashion between the Turkish Republic’s foundation years and the present day. Also, to explore the reasons and motives behind the importance given to hats by the help of Madam Katia’s story.
