dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürkiye hem iç hem de dış göç faaliyetlerinin çokça yaşandığı ülkelerden biridir. Ekonomik, sosyal ve siyasal nedenlerden dolayı Türk halkı sürekli göç etmeyi tercih etmekte veya göçe zorlanmaktadır. İnsanlar kent yaşamının çekici, köy yaşamının itici faktörleri doğrultusunda ekonominin ve diğer olanakların daha gelişmiş olduğu İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir gibi şehirleri göç durağı olarak seçmektedirler. Bu ödevde ise 1970 yılı ve sonrasında yapılan köyden kente göç hareketleri İstanbul’a yapılan göçler çerçevesinde sınırlandırılarak açıklanmıştır. Konuyu daha iyi anlatabilmek adına ülkemizin çeşitli illerinden İstanbul’a göç eden kişilerin hayat hikayelerinden yararlanılmıştır. O dönemdeki bu göç hareketlerinin nedenleri, sonuçları, kavramlar arası karşılaştırmalar, kentleşme ve sanayileşmenin göçe olan etkileri incelenmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractTurkey is one of the countries where both internal and external migration activities are experienced. Due to economic, social, and political reasons, Turkish people constantly prefer to migrate or are forced to migrate. In line with the attractive factors of urban life and the repulsive factors of village life, people choose cities such as Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir as migration stops. In this assignment, the migration from village to town in 1970 and after is explained by being limited within the framework of migrations to Istanbul. To better explain the subject, the life stories of people who migrated to Istanbul from various provinces of our country were used. The reasons and results of these migration movements in that period, comparisons between concepts, and the effects of urbanization and industrialization on migration were examined.en_US
