dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu çalışma ünlü caz müzisyenlerinden biri olan Neşet Ruacan aracılığı ile cazın ortaya çıkışını, gelişimini ve günümüzdeki yerini içermektedir. Araştırmanın başlıca amacı cazın müzik dünyasındaki yerini anlamak olup bunu Neşet Ruacan’ın tecrübeleri, anıları ve konu hakkındaki kapsamlı bilgisi eşliğinde detaylı bir şekilde incelemektir. Günümüzde diğer müzik türlerine karşı daha az popüler bir durumda olan cazın neden bu konuma geldiği tarih, kültür, konum açısından incelenmektedir. Cazın kendisine has yapısı ve kuralları diğer müzik türlerine karşı kıyaslanarak caz müzisyeninin ve caz dinleyicisinin, diğer müzik türlerinin karşısında farkı incelenmektedir.
dc.description.abstractThis research includes the birth of jazz, its evolution and its position in today’s world via the famous jazz musician Neşet Ruacan. The main purpose of the research is to thoroughly examine the place of jazz in the world of music through the agency of Neşet Ruacan’s experiences, memories, and his comprehensive knowledge about the topic. Why jazz, which is less popular than other music genres today, has become this way is examined in terms of history, culture and location. By comparing the unique structure and rules of jazz with other musical genres, the differences between jazz musicians and jazz listeners compared to other genres’ musicians and listeners are investigated.
