dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAt yarışçılığı, geçmişten günümüze Anadolu’nun sembolü haline gelmiş bir organizasyondur. Yıllar boyunca gelişerek jokeylik mesleğinin ve Gazi Yarışı gibi önemli değerlerin var olmasını sağlamıştır. Bu spor sayesinde yıllar boyunca Anadolu coğrafyasında önemli jokeyler ve atlar yetişmiştir. Bu jokeylerden biri de Halis Karataş’tır. Halis Karataş, elde ettiği tüm başarıları, yeteneği ve sportmenliği ile Türk halkının gönlünü kazanmış başarılı bir jokeydir. Jokeyliğinin en başarılı ve ünlü yıllarını safkan at Bold Pilot ile yarışırken geçirmiştir. Büyük bir çoğunluk Halis Karataş’ın Bold Pilot’tan sonraki kariyerini bilmemekte hatta jokeyliği bıraktığını sanmaktadır fakat Halis Karataş, aynı tutku ile mesleğine başka atlar, başka başarılar ve başka hedefler ile devam etmektedir.
dc.description.abstractHorse racing is an organization that has become a symbol of Anatolia from the past to the present. It has developed over the years and ensured the existence of the jockey profession and important values such as the Gazi Race. Thanks to this sport, important jockeys and horses have been raised in Anatolia over the years. One of these jockeys is Halis Karataş. Halis Karataş is a successful jockey who has won the hearts of the Turkish people with all his achievements, talent, and sportsmanship. He spent the most successful and famous years of his jockeying while competing with the thoroughbred horse Bold Pilot. Most people do not know Halis Karataş's career after Bold Pilot and even think that he quit jockeying, but Halis Karataş continues his career with the same passion with other horses, other achievements, and other goals.
