dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractTürkiye Ormancılar Derneği, Türkiye'nin en eski sivil tabanlı derneklerinden biridir, ve kökleri kurulduğu 1924 yılına kadar gitmektedir. Tarihsel olarak, dernek Türk ormancılığı üzerindeki en önemli etkenlerden biri olmuştur. Derneğin tarihi nitelik taşıyan faaliyetleri arasında 1950'lerde bugün adı ODTÜ ormanı olarak bilinen Atatürk Ormanı'nın kurulması, orman işletmeciliği ve ormancılık hakkındaki çeşitli yasaların çıkarılması ve özel sektörün ormancılık bağlamında ormanlara ne kadar müdahale edebileceğinin sınırlarının çizilmesi gibi çalışmalar yer almaktadır.
dc.description.abstractThe Foresters' Association of Turkey is one of the oldest civil-society based associations in Turkey, and can trace its origins back to 1924. Throughout its history, the association served as one of the paramount sources of influence on Turkish forestry. Historically, around the 1950s, the association played a crucial role in the planting of the Atatürk Forest, known today as the METU Forest, the implementation of several laws related to the management of forests and the extent to which interventionist policies may be undertaken by the private sector in the context of forestry.
