dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu çalışma Türkiye’deki yabancı dil eğitimini ve Bilkent Üniversitesi Hazırlık Programını incelemektedir. Yabancı dil eğitimi konusunda önemli bir konumda bulunan Bilkent Üniversitesi Hazırlık Programının kuruluş aşaması ile müfredat ve organizasyonel yapısının zaman içerisinde geçirmiş olduğu değişiklikler ele alınmıştır. Söz konusu üniversitenin hazırlık programının Türkiye’deki yeri ve önemini anlamak için de Türkiye’de Cumhuriyet Dönemi öncesi ve sonrası yabancı dil eğitimi veren kurumlar incelenmiştir.
dc.description.abstractThis study examines foreign language education in Turkey and the Bilkent University Preparatory Program. The establishment phase of Bilkent University Preparatory Program, which has an essential position in foreign language education, and the changes in its curriculum and organizational structure over time are discussed. In order to understand the place and importance of the preparatory program of the said university in Turkey, institutions providing foreign language education in Turkey before and after the Republican Era were examined.
