dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu makalede, 2 Temmuz 1993 tarihinde Sivas'ta gerçekleşen olayı hazırlayan siyasi, ekonomik ve toplumsal zemin, olay günü yaşananlar, olayın belleklerde edindiği yer ve algılanışı olaydan sağ çıkan Zerrin Taşpınar'ın anlatımı esas alınarak incelenecektir. Yakın tarihte Türkiye'nin gündemini değiştiren, kitleleri etkileyen bu olayın üzerinde; travma, toplumsal hafıza ve algı kavramlarına öncelik verilerek durulacaktır.
dc.description.abstractIn this article; political, economic and social factors paving the way of the event happened in Sivas on 2nd July 1993, what happened on that day and its place in people's minds are inspected by mainly considering the memories of a survivor, Zerrin Taşpınar. Priority of this article is trauma, collective memory and perception of this event which influenced the masses and changed Turkey's agenda in recent history.
