The largest migration between Anatolia and the Balkan geographies was experienced during the Ottoman Empire, even though migration relations between Anatolia and the Balkan geographies date back to before the Ottoman Empire. Turks, who migrated from Anatolia to the Balkans, lived there for approximately 600 years. During the Treaty of Lausanne, which started to be negotiated after the War of Independence, the exchange issue was discussed between Turkey and Greece. With the protocol signed in 1923, around 1.5 million citizens of the two countries were subjected to exchange. While this situation left socio-cultural effects on the exchanges, it also affected both countries economically and politically. The Akan family, one of the exchange families, migrated to the Hisar neighborhood of Denizli. Mustafa Akan, an exchanger, wrote typescripts that described the migration process. This article was divided into four parts; important historical events were explained in the first three. In the last chapter, the migration process of the Akan family is examined, and connections between critical historical events and an immigrant family are emphasized.
