dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu çalışmada Zaza Mezhebinin "Az" aşiretinin Baylaz Ailesi'nin Türkiye'ye göç etme serüveni -göç etmesine sebep olan faktörler ve ailenin yaşadığı zorluklar- ve Bingöl'e yerleşip uyum sağlamaları yıllarca aşireti liderlik yapan Haydar Baylaz ve karısı Birgül Baylaz özelinde araştırılmıştır. Zaza mezhebinin Az aşiretine bağlı olan Baylaz Ailesi'nin etnik kimliğinin ve göçmen ailesinin göç hikâyesini oluşturan ana faktörlerin ötesinde ailenin göç ettiği bölgedeki özellikleri, Kurtuluş Savaşı ve I. Dünya Savaşı'nda oynadığı rolün açıklanması esas alınmıştır.
dc.description.abstractIn this study, it is analyzed that the background of immigration story whose are the Zaza sect of "Az" tribe, Baylaz family, which are immigrated to Turkey linked to determination of immigration from the perspective of the chieftain and his wife. Beyond the fact of immigration to Turkey, the ethnic identity of the Baylaz family, and the main factors that make up the immigration history, the characteristics of the family in the region they immigrated, and their role in the War of Independence and the First World War were taken as the main point
