dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürk Hava Yollarının, eski adıyla Devlet Hava Yollarının kuruluş döneminin(1933-1950 yılları) inceleneceği bu projede, şu an Türkiye’yi dünyada temsil eden en başarılı şirketlerden birinin bu günlere gelirken izlediği politikayı, bağlı olduğu ilkeleri kuruluş amaçlarından başlayarak aydınlatmak ve özellikle Türk ekonomisine ve sivil havacılığına kattıklarını açıklamak amaçlanmıştır. Dönemin reisicumhuru Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ün emriyle, küçük bir bütçe ve sınırlı bir filoyla 20 Mayıs 1933’te kurulan Devlet Hava Yolları, ilk yıllarında posta taşımacılığı gibi sınırlı görevlere sahipken yıllar geçtikçe Türk milletine kattıklarıyla büyümüş ve işlevlerini arttırmıştır. Kuruluş yıllarında bir devlet kurumu olarak devletin ona verdiği amaçlar ve ilkeler doğrultusunda ilerleyen Devlet Hava Yolları kuruluş amaçlarını başarıyla tamamlamanın dışında kendine yeni görevler de edinerek Türkiye’ye kattıklarını gün geçtikçe arttırmayı başarmıştır. özellikle Türk ekonomisine ve sivil havacılığına göz ardı edilemeyecek katkılar sağlayan Devlet Hava Yollarının bu başarısında personelinin de payı büyüktür. Proje kapsamındaki yıllarda Türkiye’nin içinde bulunduğu siyasi ve ekonomik koşullardan da doğal olarak etkilenen yılında Devlet Hava Yollarının bütçesi, filosu, uçuş rotaları ve çalışanlarını seçme kriterleri gibi faktörler de bu şartlara göre şekillenmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn this project,which Turkish Airlines’, with its old name Government Airlines’, establishment period(1933- 1950) will be investigated in, it is aimed enlightening the policy that one of the most successful companies which represents Turkey in the world followed, and the principles it resided by starting with its installation goals and clarifying its contributions to espacially Turkish economy and civil aviation. Government Airlines which was founded by the command of the time’s president Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and with little budget and limited flying unit in May 20, 1933 has grown and enhanced its functions over years by the its contributions to Turkish people although it had limited job like post transportation in its first years. In its establishment years, as a state-owned company, Government Airlines, which moved along the goals and the principles that state gaved it, increased its contributions to Turkey by gaining new misions besides fulfilling its installation goals. In the success of Government Airlines which provided non-negligible contribution to Turkish economy and civil aviation, its employees played huge role, too. In the years that this project contains, Government Airlines hence its budget, flying unit, flying routes and the criterions of hiring employees have been naturally affected by the economic and political conditions of Turkey.en_US
