dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBirçok meslek dali gibi erkeğin egemen olduğu ulaşim sektöründe yillardan beri kadinlar yer edinmeye çalişmaktadirlar. İlk kadin makinist Seher Aytaç Aksel, ilk kadin ağir vasita ve uzun yol şoförü Leyla Ağaçkoparan ve taksi şoförü Nebahat Koçtemiz, alanlarinda erkek egemenliğini yikmaya çalişmişlardir. Bu çalişmada bu kişilerin tecrübelerinden yola çikilarak bu sektörde yaşadiklari zorluklar ele alinmiştir. Kadinin ulaşim sektöründe yer edinişi ve istatiksel veriler incelenmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractLike most jobs, male dominant transportation sector is a place where women -even though they go through many hardships- have an important place. First woman machinist Seher Aytaç Aksel, first woman heavy vehicle and long-distance driver Leyla Ağaçkoparan, and taxi driver Nebahat Koçtemiz tried to assert their dominance over man in their areas. In this essay, the struggles these people went through are told with the guidance of the interviews made with these people. The statistical data and the place of woman in transportation sector is examined.en_US
