dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractTürkiye'deki birçok tarihi yapıyı içerisinde bulunduran İstanbul, ülkenin en eski eczanelerine de ev sahipliği yapmaktadır. Araştırmamıza konu olan Yeni Moda Eczanesi, Kadıköy'de yer almaktadır ve en eski ikinci eczanedir. Ana görevi ilaç temin etmek olan eczaneler, sağlık sektörünün önemli bir parçası haline gelmiştir. Bir asrı aşan hizmetiyle ve çalışanların aile mensupları ile sınırlı olmasıyla birlikte Yeni Moda Eczanesi müşteriler tarafından benimsenmiş ve tanınır hale gelmiştir. Yeni Moda Eczanesi, içerisinde bulundurduğu zehir, panzehir dolabı ve tarihi mobilyaları gibi unsurlarla günümüz eczaneleri ile arasındaki farkı ortaya koymuştur. Yaşayan bir müze olarak adlandırabileceğimiz eczanenin mobilyaları Kadıköy Belediyesi ve Barış Manço gibi çeşitli kurum ve şahıslar tarafından satın alınmak istenmiştir fakat Sezer ailesi eczanenin tarihi dokusunu eksiltmemiştir. Hizmetlerine 2020 yılında da devam etmekte olan Yeni Moda Eczanesi, Sezer ailesinin emeği ve özverisi ile kuruluş yılı olan 1902 yılından 2020 yılına kadar olan süreçteki tarihi dokusunu korumayı başarabilmiştir.
dc.description.abstractWhile İstanbul holds tons of historical buildings is also a home to oldest pharmacies. Yeni Moda Pharmacy is the topic of our research located in Kadıköy and it is the second oldest pharmacy. By the main purpose of supply medicine, pharmacies became an important part of the health industry. Yeni Moda Pharmacy is loved by visitors due to its service over than a century and employees limited to a family. Yeni Moda Pharmacy proved that it significantly differs from other pharmacies because of its poison - antidote cabinet and antique furniture. The antique pieces of furniture of the pharmacy were tried to bought by Kadıköy Municipulatiy and Barış Manço however, Sezer family didn't want to damage the pharmacies historical aspect, therefore, it is true to say that the pharmacy is a living museum. With the labor and devotion of Sezer Family, Yeni Moda Pharmacy protected its historic texture from its establishment in 1902 to 2020.
