Milli mücadelede bir stratejik üs: Malıköy Tren İstasyonu

Savaş dönemlerinde tarafların zafere giden yolda ihtiyaçları olan desteği alabilmeleri için lojistik merkezler hayati bir önem taşımaktadır. Tren istasyonları, orduya gerekli olan bu lojistik desteğin sağlanmasında şüphesiz en çok önem arz eden askeri üslerdir. Sakarya Meydan Muharebesi döneminde Ankara’nın Polatlı ilçesine bağlı olan Malıköy Tren İstasyonu, Sakarya Zaferi’nin Türkiye tarihine adını altın harflerle yazdırmasında büyük bir pay sahibidir. Bu araştırmada Malıköy Tren İstasyonu’nun Sakarya Savaşı’nın seyrini etkileyecek ölçüde Türk ordusuna sağladığı katkılardan ve bu istasyonun müze haline getirilmesi ile o dönemden günümüze ulaştırılan izler incelenmiştir. Makalede, istasyonunun gerek lojistik destek açısından gerek revir, askeri uçak pisti ve askeri mühimmatların saklanması amacıyla kullanılmasının, şanlı zafere ulaşılmasında oldukça önemli bir yere sahip olduğu vurgulanmıştır. Projenin yazımında etkili olan POTA (Polatlı Belediyesi Tarihi Alanlar Tanıtım Merkezi) Genel Koordinatörü Kadim Koç ile yapılan röportaj sonucu, Malıköy Tren İstasyonu’nun Sakarya Savaşı tarihindeki önemini anlatmak ve bu istasyonunun müzeye dönüştürülmesi ile o döneme ait değerlerin korunması ve bilinmesi gerektiğini göstermek amaçlanmıştır.

The role of the train station in the image formation of the early Republican Ankara

Depending on the assumption that buildings play the fundamental role in the formation of cities and their image, this study investigates the contribution of the Train Station to the formation of Ankara and its image in the early years of the Turkish Republic. The spatial entity of the station reflected the intended modern identity of the new state. Orienting the movement and development within its setting, the building constituted an indispensable element of the structure of the city. It acted as an immediate stimulus for the perception of the city and as a mediator for the creation of city's image. As a building of prestige, it accommodated contemporary practices and provided civilized conditions for the whole public. Consequently, the station had a significant effect on the social and spatial formation and mental re-formation of Ankara.
