Item Open Access Pendname-i Azmi'nin Osmanlı Nasihatname geleneğindeki yeri(Bilkent University, 2009) Kocaer, SibelThe first chapter of this thesis is a discussion of the studies that focus on the Ottoman nasihatnâme literature, with a reference to a short text that was appended to the end of Enisü’l-Ârifin written by Pir Mehmed Azmî (d. 1582) in 1566. The second part is on the relation between the text of Azmî Efendi and Feridüddin Attar’s Pendnâme. Focusing on the question whether the text is a writing or a translation, it is aimed to discuss the place of Azmi Efendi’s text in the translation tradition of its time. Focusing mainly on the correlation between the Pendnâme-i Azmi and oral culture, along with the popularity of the text, the last chapter of this thesis deals with the functions of the nasihatname texts in the society that they are produced for.Item Open Access Storytelling in the stories of Efrâsiyâb(2005) Yildirim, T.It is possible to find the traces of traditional storytelling in modern novels. In this study, the narrator's discourse in Ihsan Oktay Anar's Efrâsiyâb'in Hikâyeleri (The Stories of Afrasiab) is compared to the narrators that are found in folk stories. The storytelling in Anar's novel is examined within the development of the traditional story that sets the frame of the work.
