    Serial killers on the run: the Exploitation of the judicial system by prominent Turkish serial killers

    This research paper identifies the serial killers of Turkey who have managed to take advantage of the Turkish judicial system and the empathy courts give to individuals with mental illnesses. It expands on how three serial killers in particular, Yavuz Yapıcıoğlu, Ali Kaya and Süleyman Aktaş, committed various crimes of vile natures, and while initially arrested by security forces, succeeded in their efforts to get released from prison and mental institutions. This research paper explores the circumstance that ties these serial killers together: all three of them managed to convince the courts that they were ready to be released, only to continue their murder rampage. This fact had repercussions that significantly affected Turkish society.
