Item Open Access Relationship of interior design with the customer recognition of corporate identity(2013) Dağlı, ZeynepA well-established corporate identity may be accepted as an important contributor to corporate success in today’s capitalist world. Corporations are engaging in the process of redesigning their corporate identity to establish a sustainable relationship with their customers. Corporations may use different tools to reflect their corporate identity in a desired manner to their customers and interior design is one of those elements which is commonly used. However the design of the interiors of companies does not always reflect the corporate image and the company's perspective may be different from that of the customer's perspective. This thesis explores the interior design applications on Garanti Bank's branch as a case study to emphasize the importance of interior design in creating corporate identity. This thesis contributes to the investigations regarding the impact of interior design for desired customer perception.Item Open Access Spatial priorities of older adults for social participation in a senior center(2016-01) Kutsal, GökçeHealthy aging has become a topic of upmost importance as the world’s older adult population increases. Social participation has a large impact on mental and physical health of seniors and it increases their sense of well-being as well. Senior centers are one of the important locations for social participation of older adults. This study focuses on the spatial priorities of older adults for social participation in a senior center with an aim to find out their preferences. In a selected senior center, 60 participants are interviewed about the social and physical factors in that setting. The age range was between 60 and 87 with the mean age 72.28. The majority were female, married and high school graduates. As a result of statistical factorial analysis, three groups were determined as social factors: Socialization degree, socialization frequency and demographic information. For physical factors, four groups were found: Furniture and physical comfort, finishing materials, lighting, and decoration. Several differences among age groups, genders, education levels, and occupations were found as well as numerous correlations between demographics, social factors, activities, and physical factors.Item Open Access A story of interior architecture : emergence & early educational implementations in Turkey(2012) Olcay, HafsaThe emergence of interior architecture education as a discrete area of expertise in Turkey can be traced back to the establishment of interior decoration atelier in the Academy of Fine Arts, and the Department of Furniture and Interior Architecture in the State Applied Fine Arts School. This thesis explores the early processes of interior architecture education in Turkey by examining these first institutions providing education in the field. It entails historically grounded research in order to detect the issues that have come forward from its beginnings to the 1980s, when the field began to proliferate in higher educational institutions in the country. Furthermore, it analyzes how the Turkish experiences relate to the international context. This thesis contributes to the investigations on how interior architecture education emerged and developed in Turkey, and enriches our understanding of the field globally.
