Item Open Access Analyzing Turkish e-government websites by eye tracking(IEEE, 2013) Albayrak, Duygu; Çaģiltay, K.Usability studies provide essential information about users' views and perceptions of efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction of given online services. Nowadays, e-government web sites become popular. Therefore, there is a need for usability testing to specify the usability problems and to make the services of the e-government more usable. The purpose of this study is to investigate usability of some Turkish e-government services. The study examined usability of five Turkish e-government web sites: Ministry of National Education - Student Information System (eokul), Ministry of Justice - National Judicial Network Project (UYAP), Turkish National Police: Vehicle Search System, Social Security Institute: Service Details and General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre. It was conducted with nine participants. This study is a case study with mixed design methodology, in which both quantitative and qualitative approaches were employed and combined. Quantitative data were collected through an eye-tracker, a pre-test questionnaire of participants' demographics and previous utilization of egovernment web sites and a post-test questionnaire. Qualitative data were collected through both semi-structured individual interviews and observation during test. The study results identify the usability problems encountered while using government services. The study concludes with specific recommendations for improvement of e-government services in Turkey. © 2013 IEEE.Item Open Access Interaction-based feature-driven model-transformations for generating E-forms(ACM, 2009-10) Tekinerdoǧan, Bedir; Aktekin, N.One of the basic pillars in Model-Driven Software Development (MDSD) is defined by model transformations and likewise several useful approaches have been proposed in this context. In parallel, domain modeling plays an essential role in MDSD to support the definition of concepts in the domain, and support the model transformation process. In this paper, we will discuss the results of an e-government project for the generation of e-forms from feature models. Very often existing model transformation practices seem to largely adopt a closed world assumption whereby the transformation definitions of models are defined beforehand and interaction with the user at run-time is largely omitted. Our study shows the need for a more interactive approach in model transformations in which e-forms are generated after interaction with the end-user. To show the case we illustrate three different approaches for generation in increasing complexity: (1) offline model transformation without interaction (2) model transformation with initial interaction (3) model-transformation with run-time interaction. LeventVoting is regarded as one of the most effective methods for individuals to express their opinions on a given topic. Electronic voting (eVoting) refers to the use of computers or computerised voting equipments to cast ballots in an election. eVoting performed over Internet can be universally accepted in the upcoming years due to the fact that Internet plays key roles in people's lives. The DynaVote eVoting protocol claims that it is practical over a network since it does not use complex algorithms and has no physical assumptions such as untappable channels, whereas fulfilling core voting requirements such as privacy, accuracy, uncoercibility and individual verifiability. Software development requires considerable amount of time and money. Therefore, in order to utilise all resources, the prototype implementation gains more importance as it gives quick feedbacks about the practicality of the system. This paper presents a prototype implementation of DynaVote eVoting protocol over the Internet. Since DynaVote relies on PVID scheme, which is an unlinkable pseudo identity mechanism, the prototype includes implementation of PVID scheme component as well. The main outcome of this study is to prove that DynaVote protocol over Internet is practical and applicable in real life and to illustrate that PVID scheme provides unlinkability. This study also contributes some improvements in DynaVote e-voting protocol. Furthermore, this paper analyses how the prototype fulfils some electronic voting system requirements such as efficiency, transparency and mobility.
