Item Open Access Cross-term free based bistatic radar system using sparse least squares(SPIE, 2015) Sevimli, R. Akın; Çetin, A. EnisPassive Bistatic Radar (PBR) systems use illuminators of opportunity, such as FM, TV, and DAB broadcasts. The most common illuminator of opportunity used in PBR systems is the FM radio stations. Single FM channel based PBR systems do not have high range resolution and may turn out to be noisy. In order to enhance the range resolution of the PBR systems algorithms using several FM channels at the same time are proposed. In standard methods, consecutive FM channels are translated to baseband as is and fed to the matched filter to compute the range-Doppler map. Multichannel FM based PBR systems have better range resolution than single channel systems. However superious sidelobe peaks occur as a side effect. In this article, we linearly predict the surveillance signal using the modulated and delayed reference signal components. We vary the modulation frequency and the delay to cover the entire range-Doppler plane. Whenever there is a target at a specific range value and Doppler value the prediction error is minimized. The cost function of the linear prediction equation has three components. The first term is the real-part of the ordinary least squares term, the second-Term is the imaginary part of the least squares and the third component is the l2-norm of the prediction coefficients. Separate minimization of real and imaginary parts reduces the side lobes and decrease the noise level of the range-Doppler map. The third term enforces the sparse solution on the least squares problem. We experimentally observed that this approach is better than both the standard least squares and other sparse least squares approaches in terms of side lobes. K.Study Design. Psychometric testing of the Persian version of Pain Anxiety Symptom Scale 20. Objective. The aim of this study was to assess the reliability and construct validity of the PASS-20 in nonspecific chronic low back pain (LBP) patients. Summary of Background Data. The PASS-20 is a self-report questionnaire that assesses pain-related anxiety. The Psychometric properties of this instrument have not been assessed in Persian-speaking chronic LBP patients. Methods. One hundred and sixty participants with chronic LBP completed the Persian version of PASS-20, Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK), Fear-Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire (FABQ), Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), trait form of the State-Trait Anxiety (STAI-T), Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Index (ODI), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). To evaluate test-retest reliability, 60 patients filled out the PASS-20, 6 to 8 days after the first visit. Test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient [ICC], standard error of measurement [SEM], and minimal detectable change [MDC]), internal consistency, dimensionality, and construct validity were examined. Results. The ICCs of the PASS-20 subscales and total score ranged from 0.71 to 0.8. The SEMs for PASS-20 total score was 7.29 and for the subscales ranged from 2.43 to 2.98. The MDC for the total score was 20.14 and for the subscales ranged from 6.71 to 8.23. The Cronbach alpha values for the subscales and total score ranged from 0.70 to 0.91. Significant positive correlations were found between the PASS-20 total score and PCS, TSK, FABQ, ODI, BDI, STAI-T, and pain intensity. Conclusion. The Persian version of the PASS-20 showed acceptable psychometric properties for the assessment of pain-related anxiety in Persian-speaking patients with chronic LBP. © 2017 Wolters Kluwer Health, Inc. All rights reserved.Item Open Access A study of lithosphere-ionosphere coupling using TUSAGA active TEC estimates(IEEE, 2010) Karatay, S.; Arikan F.; Arıkan, Orhan; Sayin I.; Aysezen, M.Ş.; Lenk O.; Aktuǧ, B.In this study, the disturbances in the ionosphere due to the seismic activity are investigated by using Total Electron Content estimates obtained from TUSAGA Active GPS stations in Turkey. Two earthquakes with same geophysical properties occurred on Northern Anatolia Fault are chosen for the study. TEC estimates are compared with each other using correlation coefficient (IK), symmetric Kullback-Leibler Distance (KLD) and L2-Norm (L2N) for geomagnetically and seismically quiet days of ionosphere and the earthquakes days. It is observed that IK values of quiet days are highly correlated in quiet days. IK values of earthquake days decrease down to 0.2 in earthquake days. KLD values of earthquake days are 10 times greater than those of the quiet days. In order to form a proper earthquake precursor alarm signal, more earthquakes with different properties have to be investigated in the future. ©2010 IEEE.
